The cost of hosting the Super Bowl — estimated at about $5 million for the city — has unleashed a storm of anger among residents already resentful of the influx of expensive restaurants, high-end stores and rich, young tech workers who have snapped up apartments in historically low-income neighborhoods. To tidy up for the tourists, the city’s large homeless population has been swept out of view, which some people here see as evidence that this city, long a seat of leftist activism, has sold itself to corporate interests.

S.F. ‘tech bro’ writes open letter to mayor: ‘I shouldn’t have to see the pain, struggle, and despair of homeless people’, ‘riff raff’
“I know people are frustrated about gentrification happening in the city, but the reality is, we live in a free market society,” Keller wrote, saying that he arrived in San Francisco only three years ago. “The wealthy working people have earned their right to live in the city. They went out, got an education, work hard, and earned it. I shouldn’t have to worry about being accosted. I shouldn’t have to see the pain, struggle, and despair of homeless people to and from my way to work every day.”
Keller’s comments drew sharp rebukes, especially within San Francisco, where tech workers have been blamed for skyrocketing rents and gentrification. On social media, a flood of critics accused Keller of arrogance and insensitivity, not to mention ignoring his own industry’s reputed role in the city’s homelessness crisis.
…But somehow during Super Bowl, almost all of the homeless and riff raff seem to up and vanish,” he writes. “I’m willing to bet that was not a coincidence. Money and political pressure can make change. So it is time to start making progress, or we as citizens will make a change in leadership and elect new officials who can.”

70% of SF homeless were living in homes there before becoming homeless. The root problem, that neoliberal semiocapitalism has occupied minds and economies worldwide and sucked the life out of the bottom 90%, is never debated in public, even in this article or most of the Comments. What does get expressed is either humanitarian concern for the victimized or the heartless vitriol of those on top, mostly the lobotomized top 10%. Let’s face it. This deregulated monster has coup d’etated our government and used media disinformation to bamboozle us as their incompetent Bankster-Gollum like search for MORE has completely destroyed civilization. Capitalism is an obsolete pyramid scheme seeking growth and profit on a full planet. It is a zombie that needs to be kicked into the grave and buried. The future is egalitarianism, Ecotopia and evolution toward a sustainable maintenance civilization where everyone is supported and provided a respectful basic living. Earth did this for us for millions of years. Now, we need to do this for ourselves.
Liberals are captivated by ideology. Conservatives are captured by ignorance.
Conservatives are fools – Sarah Palin is nothing more than a faux politician who monetized her brand of self-interest. George Bush (Bushie, Dubya) is a dim bulb, like the one you see in your refrigerator. Two months before the invasion of Iraq, the phony rancher didn’t know Islam is divided into two sects: Sunni and Shiite.
Liberals are hypocrites who claim fatuous moral superiority. They wield “racism” like a club to silence their adversaries – there are worse things than racism. Ask OJ, Bill Cosby, Ray Rice, Darren Sharper…
The consequences of liberal sanctuary city ideology affects the lives of Americans every day and is a direct parallel to and salient cause of Rome’s fall…
“Basically we’re hanging a huge ‘welcome back,’ sign for them,” said Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies with the Center for Immigration Studies. “Illegal immigrants who have already been deported see a reason to come back because they are not afraid of immigration enforcement once they get here.”
Vaughan said crime involving illegals could be preventable, but the Obama administration has encouraged officials to look the other way when it comes to enforcing immigration laws — like the law that carries a two-year prison sentence for illegal re-entry, 10 years when it involves a felony crime.
“There is a law on the books intended to make people think twice after they get deported, but the problem is the U.S. attorneys often will not prosecute until someone has been deported multiple times,” Vaughan said.
Lara-Mejia, Lara-Calmona and Christopher Paganmoux, 22, who all live on the second floor above Rivera on Exchange Street, were charged with trafficking heroin and cocaine after police said they found drugs as well as a “clear and obvious” rifle bullet hole in Lara-Mejia’s second-floor bedroom, according to police records.
The above, speaks for itself. Below, the liberal agenda and hypocrisy is manifest.

Not Like Us
JULY 10, 2015
They were criminals — thugs and thieves — a single ethnic group that filled the jails of big cities. “Scum unloaded on American wharves,” one speaker in Philadelphia said of them. Dirty, filthy, foreign. As for their children, they were “utterly ignorant of a place such as school,” The New York Herald reported.
The “Know-Nothing Party” that liberals default to when their ideology is challenged represented a reaction to Catholicism.
Mexicans? No, the Irish of the 1850s, then pouring into Anglo-Saxon America at such a rate that it gave rise to a political party founded in opposition to immigration — the Know-Nothings. At one point, it was second largest party in the United States, complete with a paramilitary arm called the Wide Awakes.
A typical facile Egan statement.
Perhaps, due to his ethnic bias,
Egan, chooses to ignore the influx of Catholic Germans who also aroused the ire of Nativists. Perhaps their misplaced attitude arose from the admonition of George Washington concerning “foreign influence and corruption…”
Nearly 50 years later, as Italians and other southern Europeans left their barren lands [evidence?] for hope in America, a prominent educator and writer, Francis A. Walker, expressed a widely held view of these new arrivals: “They are beaten men from beaten races, representing the worst failures in the struggle for existence.”
Francis A. Walker, economist and writer, was the president of MIT and wouned at the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863. In 1864, he was captured at the Battle of Ream’s Station.
The European immigrants that Walker and Teddy Roosevelt reviled because they were not Anglo-Saxon became Americanized. Mexicans can not and will not because an ocean separates America from Europe.
Donald Trump — we’ve found your century. The xenophobes have always been with us, sometimes in power, usually not. It’s the mother of all ironies that a nation where all but about 2 percent [pc changes nothing] Native Americans of the population can trace its lineage to some distant land [Mexico is not distant from, say Tejas...] is now going through another of its anti-immigrant [illegal immigrant] moments.
But good news: The 2015 version is a weak strain of the earlier tea [Lipton's or a cute allusion to the Tea Party?]. It will flush out those camped in the Republican Party who have long used code words and fabrications to hide their loathing of people who “are not you,” [Mi corazon esta en Mexico, pero mi estomago esta en los Estados Unidos] in Trump’s phrase.
“I salute Donald Trump,” said Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, one of the first to be flushed, and also one of the jillion candidates for the Republican presidential nomination. Cruz wants some of the immigrant-hatred vote, at least 10 percent of the primary audience, [again, no evidence] that has catapulted Trump to the top tier in polls. The other candidates are afraid of Trump. And Democrats, even the atheists [Coincidence of subject and object, GOD, is the point at which the unconditional necessity of thinking and being are identical.], have become devout believers in a benevolent God, as Trump keeps delivering on their prayers.
It will only get better as Republican primaries move into all-white, anti-immigrant strongholds [communities - Charleston, SC]. Here, you can expect to see clusters of red-faced older men clutching copies of “¡Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole,” [rednecks read?] by the polemicist [but not Timothy Egan] Ann Coulter. Here’s a sample line: “Today’s immigrants aren’t coming here to breathe free, they are coming to live for free.”
The most recent figures, for 2011-2013, put Somalis’ unemployment at 21 percent, about three times the rate for the general population during the same period of time.
Egan and his tribe of fellow travelers blithely ignore the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.
In order to convince the American people of the legislation’s merits, its proponents assured that passage would not influence America’s culture significantly. President Johnson called the bill “not a revolutionary bill. It does not affect the lives of millions”, while Secretary of State Dean Rusk and other politicians, including Senator Ted Kennedy, hastened to reassure the populace that the demographic mix would not be affected; these assertions would later prove grossly inaccurate.
Her book has influenced Trump, even as his hotel construction projects benefit from those same immigrants. No matter. If intellectual consistency were threads on Trump’s head, he would be as bald as a snow globe. If this keeps up, the 27 percent share of the Latino vote that Republicans got in 2012 will look like a high-water mark.
History is a guide here. The Chinese of the late 19th century were subject to exclusion laws and outright pogroms on the West Coast, and cast as inscrutable opium addicts. The major railroads probably could not have been built without them.
This assertion is false as it implies Chinese labor constructed the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad etc. Chinese labor constructed the Central Pacific Railroad through the Rocky Mountains.
The Irish did make up a majority of people housed in New York’s jails [paddy wagon]
— and the city’s mental institution — at one point. But they also dug the Erie Canal and provided the shovel muscle to remake the city.
The new Know-Nothings [vacuous, morally superior liberals] have certainly kept fact-checkers busy. Mexicans: They’re pouring across a porous border, yes? And with them comes something else — “tremendous infectious disease,” said Trump.
The pouring is actually going the other way. Since 2006, more Mexicans have left the United States than have arrived, according to a Pew Research Center study in 2012. Since 2009, there’s been a 50 percent drop in those trying to sneak across the border. A falling birthrate in Mexico, better economic opportunity at home, and economic stagnation in the United States are the contributing factors.
While the above may be true, the cumulative effect inflicted upon American communities is undeniable….
Virginia’s foreign-born population has grown exponentially since 1970 from 1 in 100 to 1 in 9 in 2012, University of Virginia researchers found in census data.
The population shift, most notably in Northern Virginia, is changing the state’s educational, political and social landscape.
At the same time, President Obama has deported more undocumented immigrants than any of his predecessors. And doctors note that Mexico has a higher vaccination rate against disease than many United States communities.
The second assertion may be true but the first is false.
As for those who want to “live for free,” in Coulter’s sneer, they better step up the mooching. Poor immigrants are less likely to take advantage of free government help than citizens, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research
Well, then, if they aren’t leeches, Mexicans are still rapists and criminals, as Trump claimed. What about the oft-deported illegal held for murder in San Francisco? That killing looks more like a result of bureaucratic negligence, in part because of San Francisco’s inane sanctuary policy, than a reason to go after job-seeking Latinos living in the shadows. Still, in conservative media circles, one murder proves the narrative.
PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The man accused of killing a woman and shooting another woman Monday is an illegal immigrant who was stopped by sheriff’s deputies three weeks ago but released the same night, reports show.
In fact, first-generation immigrants have a much lower crime rate than the overall population. As to the rapists claim, whites accounted for 71 percent of all sexual assaults in 2013, even though they are only 63 percent of the population, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Latinos, though 17 percent of the population, committed 9 percent of sex crimes.

In other words, whites are far more likely to meet Trump’s description than Latinos. But don’t expect to hear that statistic, or any other that sets the record straight, during a presidential debate. Whites make up an overwhelming majority of the Republican primary base. You can insult your audience’s intelligence, but not to their face.

I grew up in East Portland/Rockwood. It was a nice area when I was young. A guy from California who I talked to while riding the crime infested MAX light rail line told me it reminded him of his hometown — Oakland. I guess he’s right. But it was a typical crime-free bastion of Whiteness when I was young. No more. I recently moved to a inner SE Portland neighborhood that is all White, and all extreme-left. It’s odd that the people who clamor for “diversity” end up wanting nothing to do with it. And it’s odd that I am now living among the people who ruined my old hood. America really is a strange place now

You noticed that too. 99% of white liberals live in all white or majority white communities. The whiter the community, the more liberals there are.

As a non-white person who has lived in Boston, Indiana, New York, Texas and South Carolina – I actually have experienced less racism in the South. When my car broke down in South Carolina, several white passers-by stopped to help me out and the white cop was very kind to me. While I did encounter some instances of racism in South Carolina, for the most part people were not racist. However, among white liberals in Upper West Side Manhattan and in Massachusetts I saw a lot more hypocrisy. They would talk about equality but they never really included “people of color” into their social spheres. They often talked with exaggerated care when socializing with me or other non-whites, which I found weird and condescending. In the South, for the most part, people were more “real”. Some of the liberals I knew who worked in Manhattan but commuted in from Connecticut lived in 98% white neighborhoods. They might have an Asian or two live there.I actually had a white guy I dated tell me that he could never marry me because I wasn’t white (so why did he date me?) whereas in the South, the white men I dated introduced me to their families and it was obvious that if things had worked out, we would have gotten married eventually. I did encounter racists in the South, but they were much more up front about it so it was easier for me to deal with. And most of the people I encountered in the South were not racists. All of us have opinions based on our experiences. Maybe your experience has been different from mine, and I respect that. But you might consider that this young man had experiences that are different from yours, and these are what form his opinion. We should respect those who disagree with us, not discount their experiences as invalid simply because they are different from our own.

I was born and raised on the west side, and I can’t believe how much it has gone downhill. I do remember when Northland Mall was a great place to go, so I am very familiar with the area and how it has changed.

Somalis can do stuff. They can shoot down Blackhawks. Remember? They can drag our dead soldiers through the streets. They make good targets. They should not be here. I spent a year in Somalia 85-86 preparing a project to rebuild and start up a series of health post and small clinics. These were originally built and operated by the Italians. Then the Brits assumed responsibility when they chased oout the Italians. When they left the system fell apart. When I left USAID was going to run the project. Somalis are like all other Africans they tear up, and destroy everything Europeans built in a country comprised of kitty litter and diseased, violent, and ignorant Muslims. Allowing these people to settle here just adds to our coming misery. We are digging our own grave immigrant by immigrant.

In all of Africa there was no place to resettle the native people? It’s as if we took the Cherokee and shipped them off to Japan.
Why can’t the UN find a place closer to their ancestral homes and culture for resettlement rather than Portland or Maine?
Oh right the entire continent of Africa is not to keen on diversity or the multiculturalism thing.
Africa doesn’t have the taxpayer paid welfare benefits as in the USA (and other Western countries) – that is the real reason.
Trump Is the Poison His Party Concocted
JULY 24, 2015
The adults patrolling the playpen of Republican politics are appalled that we’ve become a society where it’s O.K. to make fun of veterans, to call anyone who isn’t rich a loser, to cast an entire group of newly arrived strivers [Immigrants who depress wages and contribute nothing to American culture - diversity is necessarily good in your diet and portfolio, not in your school or neighborhood] as rapists and shiftless criminals.
Somewhere, we crossed a line — from our mothers’ modesty to strutting braggadocio, from dutiful decorum to smashing all the china in the room, from respecting a base set of facts to a trumpeting of willful ignorance [Ideologues erect barriers around their minds to prevent inconvenient facts from upsetting their bliss.].
Yes, how did we get to a point where up to one-fourth of the party [independents? "I’m a liberal Democrat..."] of Lincoln, Eisenhower and Reagan now aligns itself with Donald Trump? Those same political marshals would have us believe he’s a “demagogue,” a “jackass,” a “cancer.”
They say he’s trashing the Republic brand. They say he’s “stirring up the crazies,” in the words of Senator John McCain. But Trump is the brand, to a sizable degree. And the crazies have long flourished in the Republican media wing, where any amount of gaseous buffoonery goes unchallenged.
And now that the party can’t control him, Trump threatens to destroy its chances if he doesn’t get his way, running as an independent with unlimited wealth — a political suicide bomb.
Trump is a byproduct of all the toxic elements Republicans have thrown into their brew over the last decade or so — from birtherism to race-based hatred of immigrants, from nihilists who shut down government to elected officials who shout “You lie!” at their commander in chief.
A Republican member of Congress interrupted President Obama’s speech tonight on the floor of the House of Representatives to yell “You lie!” at the president, in reference to the president’s assertion that his proposals wouldn’t provide health insurance to illegal immigrants.
Why is it that Illegal Aliens Get Free Food Stamps, Health Insurance and Pay No Taxes?
LOS ANGELES, June 2 (Reuters) – The California Senate voted on Tuesday to allow unauthorized immigrants to buy health insurance on a state exchange created under the U.S. Affordable Care Act, a measure that would make the state the first to offer that kind of coverage.
It was fine when all this crossing-of-the-line was directed at President Obama or other Democrats. But now that the ugliness is intramural, Trump has forced party leaders to decry something they have not only tolerated, but encouraged.
Consider Trump’s swipe against McCain’s military service, and by extension all veterans who have been involved in the fog of combat [Combat/the battlefield is direct and bloody, not obscure.]. Republicans were apoplectic at Trump’s claim that McCain was no war hero.
His insult of John McCain didn’t hurt him, and not because his supporters have any animus for Mr. McCain. They just saw it as more proof Mr. Trump will take the bark off anyone.
Poll: Despite McCain comments, Trump atop GOP field
“All of our veterans, particularly P.O.W.s, deserve our respect and admiration,” said Jeb Bush. The Republican National Committee was quick to lay down a similar principle, saying, “There is no place in our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably.”
No place except a presidential campaign, that being the 2004 attempt to destroy the honorable Vietnam service of candidate John Kerry. Where was Bush’s “respect and admiration” when his brother was benefiting from a multimillion-dollar smear of a Navy veteran with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart?
The wise men [
www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trumps-attack-on-mccain-marks-a-turning-point-for-him--and-the-gop/2015/07/19/92759254-2e51-11e5-97ae-30a30cca95d7_story.html] predicted Trump’s demise after he demeaned a former prisoner of war. But polls posted late this week showed Trump still in the lead. How can he get away with bashing combat veterans? Simple: The party he now wants to represent wrote the playbook on it.
The racism [patriotism vs socialism] toward Mexicans that Trump has stirred up has been swooshing around the basement of the Republican Party for some time. Representative Steve King of Iowa did Trump one better in 2013 when he said undocumented immigrants had “calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.”
Rep. Chaka Fattah Sr., D-Pa., was indicted this week on 29 charges of racketeering. (Matt Rourke/AP)
Did this make King a pariah? Not judging by the number of presidential candidates who showed up at his Iowa Freedom Summit in January, there to curry his favor. Among them was Rick Perry, the former Texas governor. This week Perry called Trumpism “a toxic mix of demagogy, meanspiritedness and nonsense that will lead the Republican Party to perdition if followed.”
Using the X-ray vision of his new glasses, Perry has correctly diagnosed the problem, and forecast the outcome. But that toxic mix has been just the tonic for his party for years, including Perry’s suggestion that Texas might have to secede. President Obama was barely into his first months in office when Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina shouted “You lie!” at him in a joint session of Congress. For hurling that insult, Wilson was widely praised in conservative media circles.
Trump also stoked the humiliating lie about President Obama’s citizenship. He began that crusade, he claimed, because so many Republicans still believe it, [Source? Link? Facts?] and have encouraged him to keep it alive.
Now, the only way to trump Trump [Trumpnado] is to act like a fool in public [HillBillary]. So Senator Rand Paul, formerly seen raising good questions about national issues, fired up a chain saw and took it to the tax code a few days ago — a pathetic stunt. And there was Senator Lindsey Graham, flummoxed by Trump’s exposing him as sycophant to a plutocrat, destroying his cellphone in a blender. It only made us long for the real thing: Dan Aykroyd’s Bass-O-Matic. [parody of a 1970s infomercial?]
All of this overshadowed the entry into the race of Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, a sensible conservative who could beat Hillary Clinton [true]. But he won’t get any traction until Republicans destroy Donald Trump and the vulgar, nativist [How nasty and disrespectfully the Mexicans are to Blacks here in Arizona.]
element in their party that they nurtured — until it became a monster.
The monster is the corrupt and transparent Obama administration…
I rest my case…
11:15 PM EDT
Michael Gerson is only now discovering that the [Democratic] Republican party has long since been captured by [Bernie Sanders] rage and resentment [white privilege]. But now that they cannot control the beast, they’re worried. Truly, as at least one person has said below, you reap what you sow.

Oh no, someone raised Benghazi again. Well, here is the truth about Benghazi:
After Obama found out the Ambassador located evidence that Obama was born in the Sudan. Obama sent a special ops team of Kenyan Moslems from the White House basement to Benghazi, disguised as Mormon missionaries. On a signal sent from Reverend Wright in Chicago, they converged on Benghazi with orders to kill our ambassador under the guise of protesting an anti-Islam video.
Before he was killed, though, the Ambassador was met by an agent sent by Donald Trump north of Benghazi. Apparently the Obama gang didn’t realize that incriminating documents, proving Obama’s Sudanese birth and the existence of a fraudulent Hawaiian birth certificate, had been transferred to Trump.
So Trump was supposed to reveal these documents at one of his many blockbuster events during the 2012 presidential campaign. However, Rahm Emanuel, who really isn’t an Israeli-American, but is actually a Moslem, born of Lebanese parents made a deal with Trump to keep the documents secret, and so Trump backed out of exposing Obama as a Moslem, foreigner, and imminent danger to the U.S.
In return Obama is going to arrange to permit Trump Inc. to tear down the Washington Monument and put up a 150 story Trump Tower District Columbia, and the property will be leased to him in perpetuity for $100/year. The tower will be referred to as TTDC or Tri**y-D**k.
It was also revealed in a Fox News story that very soon pigs will begin to fly all over the Koch Brothers business, Koch Industries, located in Wichita Kansas. Since Wichita was a major terminus of 19th century cattle drives, the pig droppings shouldn’t be too disruptive to a family and town famous for bull-dung.
